<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Mike Hampton reportedly is returning to the Houston Astros.

Hampton and the Astros reached agreement Monday on a contract pending the free-agent pitcher passing a physical, KRIV-TV in Houston reported on its Web site. Terms were not available.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

From our friend Keith Law

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Furcal's agent, Paul Kinzer, told ESPN.com Monday that he has previously scheduled business to attend to outside the United States this week, so "I don't see anything happening before the winter meetings."

The A's and Giants have actively pursued Furcal over the last couple of weeks. But another reason Furcal is in no hurry to sign is that two other clubs have interest, but only if they make another trade.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Kinzer would not identify the fourth team in the Furcal hunt. But indications are that neither the Cubs nor Furcal's old team, the Dodgers, are currently in the mix. Executives from two other teams nominated the Red Sox and Orioles as possible matches.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I'd bet that the Braves are one of those teams.

He should be pretty good in Atlanta.

Yeah my buddy said he's heard it's a done deal on the radio. Rosenthal adds this:
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->The Braves are close to acquiring Javier Vazquez in a deal with the White Sox that also includes Brent Lillibridge.
FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal says Jo-Jo Reyes won't be in the deal. Perhaps Charlie Morton or Kris Medlen will be. We can't imagine the deal getting done without the White Sox getting some pitching in return. Relievers Manny Acosta and Blaine Boyer would also make sense as possibilities. Lillibridge, if traded, could compete with Chris Getz and Jayson Nix for the starting job at second base for the White Sox. Dec. 2 - 6:17 pm et<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->The AJC's Dave O'Brien reports that the White Sox will get Tyler Flowers, Brent Lillibridge, Jon Gilmore and Santos Rodriguez from the Braves for Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan. Incredibly, the White Sox won't be getting back any advanced pitching in the deal, though Rodriguez does have a live arm. Flowers is a significant talent and Lillibridge is probably better than he showed last season, but this still looks like a nice deal for Atlanta.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

ESPNews was saying that JoJo Reyes was in the deal. Did they change that?

I think the Braves got the ass end of this deal. Vazquez blows and Logan is nothing more than a loogy at best.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->The agent for shortstop Edgar Renteria said Wednesday that he's making significant progress toward a deal that would bring the five-time All-Star to the San Francisco Giants.
"We're working on it and we're certainly much, much closer, but nothing is done," said agent Barry Meister.

A source told ESPN.com that Renteria is looking at a contract in the two-year, $18 million range with San Francisco. WFAN radio in New York reported 10 days ago that Renteria had agreed to a deal with the Giants. But Meister had characterized that initial report as untrue.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
