QUOTE Piniella still plans to have a balanced bullpen, saying he'll go with three right-handers, three left-handers and then closer Carlos Marmol at the end. Unless someone is traded or goes on the disabled list, that type of setup would project lefty James Russell going to Triple-A when Cashner joins the Cubs.

The rotation in Pittsburgh is set with Randy Wells going on Monday, Ted Lilly on Tuesday and Zambrano on Wednesday. Wells will pitch on two days rest after throwing only 16 pitches in Friday's 7-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. He allowed five runs on hits to the first six batters.
because balance is always important! regardless of the fact that your go to lefty cant get left or right handed batter out...

I hate Piniella.

Everywhere, except his pitching arm.

Unbelievable...with the exception of a few of the elite, almost every player is a crap shoot.

You're looking to assign blame...where there may be none to apply.

If Grabow was a bad contract...such is life. You win some, and you lose some.

This isn't an oil spill...shit happens.

We need to set up some kind of pop up, that shows up every time Rapp logs in, reminding him that this is a CUBS MESSAGE BOARD.

Thank God.... I can't believe they actually did it. Our bullpen actually looks respectable now overall.

Russell, Marshall and Marmol are the only 3 left from the abomination that was our opening day bullpen.

I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. Honestly. It's not about blame, other than that signing Grabow does become part of Hendry's track record and using him bizarrely becomes part of Piniella's.

This is about the fact that we have a guy that CAN'T FUCKING PITCH and GETTING HIM GONE.

Send him down and keep him hoping, I don't care, as long as he's frozen in carbonite like Jeff Samardzija...

Yep, I'm actually feeling a lot more at ease now with the pen overall. It won't be great, but I will even accept mediocre at this point.
