Cubs vs. Rays 4/18-20
#16
This has been the most enjoyable Cubs baseball in 4+ years. Not sure how many of these players will be around past this season, but the FO seems to have found a good formula for identifying cheap, useful players.

I really hope Stroman isn’t the latest big FA starter bust, because I really do like the guy. Also, this game should have been postponed.

At least he’ll never be Milton Bradley signing bad - an overhyped, overpaid, tool of a person who sucked and talked shit about the city and Cub fans

I think Stro will be fine, but ideally he's your badass number 3, not your 1 or even 2.

That's an interesting thought that I suppose says a lot about expectations. It was hard watching a core that won a world series fail to score runs and live and (too often) die by the home run. I suppose this is a rebuild so you have to be patient, but there may be an overcorrect situation for that "three true outcome" approach right now. But it has been fun so far. Hope they can make hay with the Pirates coming to town.

Pirates are typically significantly a tougher team at start of season (April) then later in year. Yeah, the trading deadline typically takes a talented player or two off the roster and injuries can hit roster removing another player or two. Teams with rosters that are built to be 500 at best turn really bad when removing 1-3 of their expected starters - specially if it includes there more talented players.

Yeah, that's a good point. They've been hitting well too so far.

There is still plenty of time for this team to get worse.
