Didn't Roberts just sign an extension there?

Yeah, end of 2018 I think.  He's signed through 2022.  It could just be the heat of the moment, but "he must go" articles and talk are springing up.

I don't see Theo hiring Ross.

I think there's a higher likelihood that Friedman walks away before Roberts is fired. And don't believe either will happen after the season they just had.

This has been my feeling as well.  But I couldn't see several of the recent hires being made either, like Aaron Boone. So who knows.

Athletic seems certain he's the hire.

I don't see any chance Roberts is fired.

Yeah, unless he doesn't want the job, all signs point to Ross. I'm curious if they get a chance to interview Espada if he ends up as their fallback option, but it honestly doesn't matter unless the roster is revamped.

I didn't watch it closely at all, but to me the lesson isn't the manager shit the bed as much as it is anything can happen in the playoffs and you can't waste a season. The Cubs wasted a season, and both NLDSs just drove that point home.

Looks like Justin Stone (who?) is on the verge of being named the Cubs director of hitting. He's been a consultant for the team and also president of Elite Baseball Training here in Chicago.

Good article from Athletic comparing Cubs and Dodgers successes.

Touches upon the which roster/org would you prefer going forward question from Divisional Series thread

Do they also take the position that it would be worth the Cubs giving up the 2016 championship?  Because, if so, I need to cancel my subscription and get a refund for having ever spent money on something so stupid.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]
