Dear Joe Morgan...

The man gave up one-hit in a rain-soaked inning. He's the player of the game.

What is your deal?

I think he wanted to give it to Marmol.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

Joe Morgan's player of the game is ... Joe Morgan.

You see, John, when you're up there as a pitcher, you're trying to make sure the hitter does not get a hit.

Delivered as a priceless pearl of wisdom...with disdainful smugness.

The Tim McCarver delivery, on the other hand, is intoned as a profound and revealing explanation...with generosity of spirit.

Yeah, I liked how Morgan wanted to give it to Marmol for getting out of the 9th inning jam.
That he created.

LOL no doubt. I was sweating it out for Lilly. What a mess that could have been.

Joe Morgan has finally won me over. I'm now convinced that his entire broadcasting career has been one big Andy Kaufman-esque performance art piece. The guy is fucking brilliant.

You see, Marmol has had a lot more to overcome in his life, so he deserves a lifetime MVP. Lilly clearly deserves honorable mention. Plus, he didn't complete the no-no, so mission not accomplished.

I actually liked him years ago...I thought he was smart, and he might still be. And...I'm not one who thinks this or that announcer is "anti this or that".

That said, I have never seen an announcer go to such lengths to bury his grudges in the scalps of the players.

Don't just go, Joe...go to fuck.
