RE: 2024 Cubs - 1060Ivy - 05-02-2024 I’m lucky enough to have visited far too many ballparks. In the NL Central, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are nice ballparks. Used to go to Brewers often which is meh but was quasi-engaged to a girl there decades ago so I stay away. RE: 2024 Cubs - jeffy - 05-04-2024 My folks are visiting out here in Oregon for the first time in 5 years. We always watch games together so I'm glad they finally got a W today after the last couple depressing efforts. My old man has Parkinson's now so it's nice to be able to kick back & watch a game with him while forgetting about everything else for awhile. RE: 2024 Cubs - 1060Ivy - 05-05-2024 Enjoy time with your parents Hope the Cubs can provide some entertainment and win to meatball the brewer’s series RE: 2024 Cubs - Butcher - 05-05-2024 (05-05-2024, 08:44 AM)1060Ivy Wrote: Enjoy time with your parents You mean Meatloaf, right? RE: 2024 Cubs - jeffy - 05-05-2024 I enjoy meat in all its various forms. Thank you, Ivy. RE: 2024 Cubs - Butcher - 05-05-2024 RE: 2024 Cubs - 1060Ivy - 05-07-2024 Cubs are batting 145 with runners in scoring position over their last 10 games. Ugly but still 4-6 in those games. Don’t want to rush either Cody or Seiya back but damn the offense needs them to return and producing in a hurry RE: 2024 Cubs - Butcher - 05-07-2024 (05-07-2024, 09:52 AM)1060Ivy Wrote: Cubs are batting 145 with runners in scoring position over their last 10 games. RE: 2024 Cubs - 1060Ivy - 05-07-2024 Cody’s back RE: 2024 Cubs - jeffy - 05-07-2024 Hallelujah. 2024 Cubs - rok - 05-08-2024 It's been a mostly entertaining season so far, but I don't find myself all that emotionally invested. It's kind of nice to not live and die with every pitch. We'll see how long this lasts. In spite of my efforts to stay a little more detached, I've found myself fully checked-in this season. RE: 2024 Cubs - jeffy - 05-08-2024 I think the fact that we're well aware this squad has a few glaring holes helps to keep my expectations and emotions in check, and also makes the losses more bearable. It's easier to enjoy the game itself, or at least attempt that... to varying degrees of success depending on the day. My daughter goes to school in Boston now and so I've been back there with her a couple of times, too. Not to state the obvious, but it feels the most like Wrigley of any other stadium in baseball. The only thing I really don't like about it is the seats are facing the wrong way the farther down the foul lines you go. If you're down the first base line into the OF, the seats aren't facing the mound, they're facing the outfielders -- so you're spending the entire game looking to the left. You don't notice it so much for an inning or two, but by the late innings you're like, "why does my neck hurt?" Seems like something they could fix if they really wanted to.It's great that your daughter goes to school in Boston, I have to think it's the quintessential college city in the country. We stayed right by Fenway, and I liked the area a lot, much more than I thought I would based on what I heard from people who haven't been in some time. A few friends, one who lives in Boston, said not to stay right by the park, we'd be bored, but I'm so glad we did, it was like a 5 minute walk to Fenway and there were plenty of good spots in the area. And Boston in general is just so different than sprawling LA or even Chicago, everything we wanted to see was like 15 min away. But with obvious bias, I do think Wrigley and the neighborhood around beats Fenway and it's surrounding area. And I know not everyone agrees, but I like the evolution of Wrigleyville. I've been enjoying this season a ton, the Busch walkoff was incredible. But can I take a moment to complain about the schedule? I know it's random, but I feel like this is an incredibly front-loaded schedule. And right when it's like, "Alright, we're playing the Pirates", they call up Skenes. RE: 2024 Cubs - 1060Ivy - 05-10-2024 Sunday’s starter against Pirates is TBD Is Taillon, Steele, or another starter injured? It would be Taillon starting according to schedule |
