u4gm Path of Exile 2 Hostile Takeover Hideout Location Tips Guide
#1
Just got into Kingsmarch in Act 4 and feeling pretty settled? Right next to the waypoint there’s Ange, waiting to hand you the “Hostile Takeover” quest. Sounds easy at first – find a decent spot for a new Hideout – but her directions couldn’t be more vague. A lot of players waste time combing through the mainland, but don’t bother. The ideal location isn’t even there. If you want to skip the wandering, it’s worth keeping in mind that getting there will be as important as stacking up enough PoE 2 Currency for what comes next.

Once Ange sends you on your way, look for Makoru. He’s the guy who’ll get you across the water. Chat to him, and he’ll pop open the world map. From Kingsmarch, swing your eyes down southeast. You’re looking for Whakapanu Island. Pick it, confirm, and then let Makoru handle the sailing. It’s a short trip, nothing to drag out, so you’ll be stepping onto the beach before you know it.

Now, Whakapanu isn’t some quiet retreat waiting for you. You’ll know straight away this is where the “hostile” part comes in. The place is crawling. Your job’s simple enough in theory – clear every enemy off the island. That means working your way through mobs scattered in different corners and eventually taking on the local boss. Think more along the lines of a forced move-out rather than a polite request. The combat isn’t just filler; the boss fight can get tricky if you’re not prepped, so plan your skills and gear for it.

When the last foe’s dropped and the boss is down, you’ll get the prompt to claim the island. Accept it and that’s it – Whakapanu becomes your Hideout. This space isn’t just for looks. You can bring in Masters, Ange, and other key NPCs to make it functional. Layouts, decorations, crafting benches – all yours to place how you like. Your stash will be here, along with everything you’ll need for progression. Over time, you’ll also set up the map device, opening doors to endgame challenges. Locking in a Hideout this early keeps everything anchored in one spot, and it feels like your own slice of the game world – exactly why a solid base is worth as much as gold path of exile 2.
