Koyie Hill - Butcher - 03-28-2009 Has anyone looked at his ST numbers? He's having a ridiculous spring. That is all. Koyie Hill - savant - 03-28-2009 Anyone look at the Cubs winning percentage when he is the starting catcher. That is all. Koyie Hill - CCwinwssoon - 03-28-2009 I am all for Hill winning the job. He might be able to handle the backup job for years. Plus, you can always find a Paul Bako type when you need him if Hill doesn't work out. Koyie Hill - rok - 03-28-2009 I know that stats are meaningless, but we need to forget about Bako and give this guy a shot. The pitchers love him and he knows the staff well. Think of it this way, if Soto goes down for any extended amount of time, do you want Bako out there 5 days a week or Hill? If it's only once a week, it's a tossup between the two, but as insurance for an injury, I'll take Hill any day of the week. Plus, isn't he out of options? Koyie Hill - jeffy - 03-28-2009 I was pessimistic about him after losing Blanco, but he is really proving himself so far this year. Let's hope he can keep it up. Last time I looked, Bako was hitting about .055, so this is starting to look like a real possibility. Koyie Hill - Kid - 03-28-2009 Doesn't Bako's contract basically say that if he's cut during spring training, he gets about a buck fifty? Koyie Hill - Clapp - 03-28-2009 <!--quoteo(post=25557:date=Mar 28 2009, 05:43 PM:name=KBwsb)-->QUOTE (KBwsb @ Mar 28 2009, 05:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Somebody who's following ST more closely should give us a fuller picture. I don't care if our backup catcher hits .050. I just want somebody that can handle the pitchers well and be solid defensively. Both Bako and Koyie are both fine there. Don't care who wins it. Koyie Hill - Kid - 03-29-2009 If my math is correct, the Cubs are 18-9 when Hill starts (17-8 in 2007, 1-1 in 2008). Most of those starts took place between the Barrett-Z fight and when we traded for Kendall. |
