Maybe, but I'd rather see if someone like Cashner or another more promising young SP, hell maybe even Gorzelanny, could step in and show me something for the future. I don't care about this season even in the slightest, but I'd like to see what else we have for next year and beyond. I don't see Wells having much of a future at this point.

Not even comparing the two..but in a Bob Gibson interview I once said he said the thing that helped him out the most was that in his second season his coach told him "you will be pitching every 5 days no matter what". Point being that he had the backing of his coach regardless(up to a point I suppose) of results to work his shit out in the majors.
Imo, i would let wells pitch the rest of the season, at this point the team is looking at who can be counted on for the future. If Lilly or Silva or even Z now get traded this season I am sure we will see cashner get some starts.
Its not like Silva and Lilly are the future of the organization... Wells might or might not be in the rotation of the future, but id rather find out now that this season over...
