Any of you movie nerds (Rok, Butch) plan I checking this out?  I just ordered for me and my gf.  Webster Place and River East are on the accepted lists, so I don't see a downside to this service.  I'm guessing the movie theaters will be all in on shutting this down eventually or doing their own.

I think Butch does it, but I haven't. I keep reading about AMC and Cinemark implementing their own but haven't seen anything official yet.

Cinemark has, they just announced the other day.  8 bucks a month I believe.  Movie pass offered theaters I like so I went with them, plus apparently the owner of Cinemark is a massive twat.

Aren't they all?

I do hate Cinemark more than most chains though.

I've had Movie Pass since September and it kicks ass. I highly recommend it. I don't know if it's sustainable, but I'm going to ride it out for as long as it's available...

I mentioned to a buddy of mine and he said eh, there's nothing good out right now.  I said Brian, you can't find one movie a month to make ten dollars worth it?  Gimme a break.  I should have done this a long time ago.

Here's what I've seen since I got my pass:

- mother!

- Kingsman (sucked)

- Blade Runner

- IT

- That Vincent Van Gogh movie -- can't remember the title

- Killing of a Sacred Deer

- Thor Ragnarok

- Lady Bird

I probably wouldn't have seen mother! or Kingsman without the pass, but I'm coming out way ahead on money spent vs movies seen...

Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a few months now. Might as well make it happen.

I'd think in the long run it's a good idea for theaters to get on board.

Seems like a hell of a deal. Also looks like my favorite local theaters are covered. Might take the plunge.

I know people love streaming these days, but for me nothing beats the theater experience.

Yeah, streaming is ok for convenience, but not everything is available online just yet. Especially not new releases, and if they are the quality is still mostly terrible.

I mean, that's the venue movies were intended for.  Heard Noah Baumbach on the New Yorker podcast ask that people go see his new movie in theaters and not just stream it on Netflix, even though it's already available on there.

It does get exhausting having to ask people to stop talking or turn off their phones at the theater. Doesnt happen all the time, but enough times that its pretty annoying.

Ordered a pair for my wife and I. Just waiting for the cards to arrive in the mail. Thanks for the heads up on this.

Do any of the theaters in your area let you pick/reserve seats in advance with the app? Looks like only one of my local theaters does (Studio Movie Grill). It's not my favorite place to go because they serve food/drinks at your seats, which can be really distracting when the servers are walking around a lot during a packed movie.

We usually reserve seats online at my local Cinemark or Cinema West because they both have the Luxury Recliners, but it looks like they don't let you reserve with the Movie Pass app. I do like to pick seats in advance being in a wheelchair because sometimes the handicap sections can fill up quickly (there are usually only 4-6 handicap seats per theater), but it's not too big of a deal to just get there a little earlier, and I usually wait a week or to check new releases anyway so it isn't as crowded.
