Real freaking sad. I remember being at Petco and watching him in BP right down behind the dugout back in 2009 and he was so jovial. He was the only one that looked like a kid out there.

This is incredibly sad and tragic so I obviously don't have any intention of making light of it. But until someone posted a picture of him on twitter in a Cubs uniform, I had no recollection of him being a Cub. So I looked him up on Baseball-Reference and it turns out that he spent about 2 months with the Cubs in 2009 after we traded Joey Gathright to Baltimore for him. My reaction to seeing that was: "Joey Gathright played for the Cubs?!?!"

Yeah, this is tragic, and I also had to go back and double-check when he actually played here. It didn't seem like more than a few games.

Man, I had the same two reactions. I don't remember either of those guys in a Cubs uniform.
